A drug trafficking broker is the first fugitive to end up in handcuffs in 2024 during an operation by the Carabinieri of the provincial command of Naples.

The capture of Faslii Qibini, the military explains, is the result of constant commitment and the culmination of research developed for years, on multiple fronts. A final sentence of over 22 years in prison hangs over the head of the 64-year-old of Albanian origins: international drug trafficking is the crime for which he was wanted. The man is considered a cross-border drug trafficking broker: he allegedly managed heroin trafficking between his country of origin, Greece, Turkey and southern Italy, where he did business with the Di Lauro clan and then with the “Nardielli”.

His fugitive status was declared in 2011 when, placed under house arrest, he escaped and disappeared without a trace. Yesterday afternoon Qibini was walking along Corso Secondigliano unaware of being surrounded. It wasn't a coincidence that cost him the handcuffs, but a scrupulous monitoring of his family's habits. Probably far from Italy, the 64-year-old did not give up the Christmas holidays to hug his wife and son again. The latter were seen several times in recent days in tobacconists to buy cigarettes, but they were not smokers. The "blondes" - the police imagined - were for someone else. So the military intensified their observations and patrolled the neighborhood with ever greater attention. Then, Qibini thought about purchasing cigarettes on his own. The police surrounded him and arrested him. He is now in Secondigliano prison.
