The Public Prosecutor's Office of Florence is investigating for manslaughter in the death of Mattia Giani , the 26-year-old footballer from Castelfiorentino who fell ill on Sunday during a match with Lanciotto in Campi Bisenzio (Florence) and died on Monday morning in hospital in Careggi.

At the moment there are no people registered in the register of suspects. Prosecutor Giuseppe Ledda will order the autopsy, which will be held tomorrow or next Friday.

The Carabinieri, at the request of the Florence prosecutor's office, interviewed Mattia Giani's parents with "brief information". The young man had just taken a shot on goal, then he put his hand on his chest and collapsed to the ground. His heart had stopped beating for a few minutes and his condition immediately appeared very serious. The first to help him was the masseur from Castelfiorentino who began resuscitation measures, then there was the 118 intervention and his desperate transport to hospital, where he died on Monday.

The investigators want to clarify precisely the timing of the rescue by the emergency system. According to the victim's father, Sandro Giani, there was no doctor on the sidelines, a first ambulance arrived late and without a doctor, the defibrillator was there but was only used by the doctor who arrived with the second ambulance.
