Celebrations in Rome for the 77th anniversary of the Republic .

In the morning, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella laid a laurel wreath at the Altare della Patria, during a ceremony that saw the highest offices of state present: Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the presidents of the Senate and Chamber, Ignazio La Russa and Lorenzo Fontana, the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto, the top military and police forces.

"The national community, the homeland, is ultimately this: a dimension of sacrifices that are made together for those who made it before us and for us who make it towards others," said Giorgia Meloni , at her first 2 June as Prime Minister.

«Today we celebrate the 77th anniversary of the birth of the Republic. The values of the choice of 2 June 1946, transfused into the Constitutional Charter whose 75 years of life we remember, continue to guide us on the journey of an Italy as an authoritative protagonist in that European Union which we have helped to build. Freedom, equality, solidarity, respect for the rights of individuals and communities are fundamental pillars of our Constitutional Charter », Sergio Mattarella wrote in a message sent to the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone.

THE CELEBRATIONS

The President of the Republic, having reviewed the deployed departments, then attended the traditional parade at the Imperial Forums.

An impressive parade with 5,500 people , belonging to   all components of the state: military and civilian personnel, armed and non-armed bodies of the state, flags and banners, military bands and fanfares.

On the Vittoriano, to seal the party, the usual overflight of the national acrobatic team of the Frecce Tricolori.

On the occasion of the party, congratulations from the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky also arrived: «Congratulations to Giorgia Meloni and the Italian people on the Italian Republic Day.
