He entered an elementary school and first attempted to kidnap a 10-year-old girl and then another boy , and only the promptness of the parents who witnessed the scene allowed the worst to be avoided.

Moments of great fear this morning at the Cabrini primary school on Via delle Forze Armate in Milan , where a 50-year-old man was stopped and then arrested on charges of attempted kidnapping and abduction of an incapacitated person.

It was the school's entry time, usually very crowded with parents coming and going to accompany their children to class, when the man entered the building. He repeated, according to witnesses: "I want a child."

Then the attempted abduction of the two minors, with the man who was put to flight and who then tried to hide inside the building.

The carabinieri intervened quickly and managed to locate and immobilize the 50-year-old and arrest him.

The man, who in recent months had already been reported in the area for similar behavior and who appears to suffer from some mental disorder, allegedly tried to approach other children outside the institute.

A mother reported that she caught him in a bar across the street from the school while he was trying to talk to her children, ten-year-old twins.
