The Prato Prosecutor's Office asked for the trial of the three suspects in the investigation into the death of Luana D'Orazio , the 22-year-old worker who died on May 3 in the textile company where she worked, a warp in Montemurlo di Prato.

These are Luana Coppini, owner of the company, her husband Daniele Faggi whom the prosecution considers de facto owner of the company and Mario Cusimano, the external maintenance technician of the company. They are accused of manslaughter and willful removal of the accident prevention precautions, the case in point disputed for the technical changes made to the safety systems with which the machinery, a sampling warper, is equipped.

According to the technical consultant of the prosecutor, the engineer Carlo Gini, the accident would have occurred while the machinery Luana was working on was running at high speed. The protective shutters were to remain down but at the time of the accident they were not.

According to the defense of the suspects, the accident that led to D'Orazio's death would have instead occurred in another phase of the warping machine. For this reason, the lawyers also asked for a new probative incident, which, however, the judge for the preliminary investigations of Prato did not grant. At this point, in view of the preliminary hearing, the defenders of the three suspects could carry out evaluations to access alternative rites to that of the ordinary trial.

"We will not let this tragedy go unpunished", said Emma Marrazzo, Luana's mother. D'Orazio had a son who will turn six in a few days and who now lives with his maternal grandparents on the outskirts of Pistoia.
