The Guardia di Finanza of Savona and the Novara Police, coordinated by the Novara Public Prosecutor's Office, carried out some searches in the provinces of Padua, Rovigo and Novara against alleged members of a gang dedicated to scams in the driving license sector. The investigation concerns a total of 6 people , including 2 Italian citizens and 4 Pakistani citizens, suspected of belonging to a gang operating in Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto and Liguria.

The group, the investigators argue, had organized a system that allowed non-EU citizens without any command of the Italian language and without the most elementary notions of the Highway Code, to obtain a driving license upon payment of sums of money . The scam occurred through the use of electronic devices modified and hidden in clothing, in order to allow test takers to receive suggestions without which they would not be able to take the quizzes and pass the exam.

Numerous miniaturized bluetooth headsets , micro-cameras, smartphones, portable modems and clothing appropriately packaged to hide the equipment have been seized.

In addition, during the searches, over 18 thousand euros were seized, presumable proceeds from the illegal activities.
