They allegedly kidnapped a man for extortion, believing him to have won money on slot machines using a so-called " fish ," a metal object that allows you to play and win without inserting coins . For this reason , six people were arrested by the Carabinieri in the Crotone area on charges of kidnapping, extortion, and robbery, pursuant to a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge at the request of the Catanzaro Anti-Mafia Directorate.

The events date back to January 29 of last year in Cirò Marina (Crotone). According to investigations conducted by the Carabinieri of the Cirò Marina Company, the six men had stopped the man, originally from Campania, in the forecourt of a bar on State Road 106 and, after beating him, forced him into the business's bathroom, demanding a payment of €5,000 to regain his freedom .

Furthermore, the suspects, under various responsibilities, allegedly stole the victim's wallet containing €620, as well as his car and an additional €1,800, using violence and death threats. Investigators identified the six individuals through on-site inspections, information gathered from people with knowledge of the facts, and photographic identification. During the execution phase, the Carabinieri of Cirò Marina were assisted by personnel from the Crotone and Petilia Policastro Companies, as well as the Vibo Valentia Dog Unit.
