In Rome, Abdul Ghani Al Kikli, head of the Libyan militia Stability Support Apparatus, accused of crimes against humanity.
The one who denounced it was the Libyan dissident Husam El Gomati who published on X a photo portraying Al Kikli , together with other people, around a hospital bed where the Libyan Minister of Internal Affairs, Adel Jumaa Amer, is hospitalized.
According to Repubblica.it , it would be the European Hospital in EUR where the Libyan minister is being treated following an attack. El Gomati writes in X that the militiaman "is accused of torture, forced disappearances and killings and is on the ICC's wanted list, according to some sources." Al Kikli would have landed in Fiumicino around 6:00 PM on March 20, accompanied by a high-level Libyan delegation, which then appears in the photo published by the Libyan dissident.
According to Amnesty International, the militia, led by Al Kikli, was created by the Libyan government in January 2021 and is responsible for unlawful killings, arbitrary detention of Libyan citizens, interception and subsequent arbitrary detention of migrants and refugees, torture, forced labor and other very serious crimes under international law. Abdel Ghani al-Kikli, known as "Gheniwa", was appointed head of the Stability Support Apparatus (SSA) militia "despite - Amnesty writes - his well-documented responsibility for crimes under international law and other serious human rights violations. Militias under the command of 'Gheniwa' have terrorized the population of the Tripoli neighborhood of Abu Salim through enforced disappearances, torture, unlawful killings and other crimes under international law".
Officially, the ASS is responsible for ensuring the security of government offices and authorities. It also participates in combat, arrests people suspected of crimes against national security, and collaborates with other security organizations. It would not be the first time that Al-Kikli, who has been charged with crimes against humanity at the ICC, has come to Italy: last July - according to media reports - he was in Rome for the finals of the championship organized by Tripoli and hosted in our country.
