A shot exploded in a field , a few hundred meters from the houses. And shot in cold blood in the mouth of a Rottweiler dog , just 12 months old, who was running with his 13-year-old owner, now in shock.

It happened yesterday afternoon, around 4.40pm, in Parabiago , the north-west hinterland of Milan, in a rural area near Via delle Viole.

"The man, a hunter, shot her in the mouth," says Sarah, the dog's owner and mother of the 13-year-old, in a complaint first made public on Facebook and then entrusted, for the follow-up of the case, to some animal rights associations.

« He said he mistook her for a wild animal at first, but then he said he saw her with her mouth open and shot her, we were 160 meters from the houses. My son, a 13-year-old boy, saw his dog's head explode."

"I couldn't watch my beloved Uma headless and I won't have peace until I get the justice she deserves ," adds Sarah.

The police arrived immediately on the scene and the hunter was reported at large for "killing animals". Seven hunting rifles, for which he had authorization, were seized from him.

The alerted animal rights associations express solidarity with Uma's family and, in the face of this umpteenth hunting victim, underline how a distance of 160 meters from homes cannot be considered safe and underline the need to prohibit hunting near inhabited centres , regulating hunting calendars and permitted days in a more restrictive manner.
