As of December 31, 2024, a quarter of the total funds allocated to the Regions for the recovery of waiting lists in the healthcare sector, equal to 24%, have not been used .

Of a total funding of almost 1.4 billion euros for the years 2022-23-24 by the Ministry of Health for the recovery of the lists, in fact, the Regions have not used - or have set aside - a total amount equal to 323 million euros . This is what emerges from the data communicated by the Regions to the Ministry of Health, viewed by Ansa.

Today, Health Minister Orazio Schillaci , answering question time in the Senate, spoke of the "failure of the regional model of healthcare management". "One might respond to the indiscriminateness of the generic accusation of "failure" with an equally generic "failure of the regional model of healthcare management" , but this Government has been focused from the beginning only on solutions, not on indiscriminate accusations", said Schillaci. Adding: "The results of those organizations that are applying the law on waiting lists are there for all to see".

Schillaci also underlined that he would not define as "adequate collaboration" on the part of the Regions "the discussion on the implementing decree that provides for the Ministry's substitutive powers in the event of non-compliance, when after months of technical discussion in which all regional requests were accepted, there was an almost unanimous veto by the Regions". "I want to be clear - concluded the minister - our intent is not to override regional autonomy, but to support change for the benefit of citizens".
