A 56-year-old man, Stefano Bonacina, a resident of Calolziocorte (province of Lecco), died poisoned by the herbs he had picked and then eaten.

The man was well known in the area for his football passion which he had cultivated as a player and then as a coach in local clubs.

In recent days he had been hospitalized in Merate hospital for an illness, linked to food poisoning, caused, in all probability, by the ingestion of wild herbs that he himself had collected, as traditionally several people do with the sprouts of varies nature in this spring period.

The hypothesis is that he accidentally collected a toxic species, with fatal effects.

He leaves behind a wife and two children.
