Killed at point blank range with three gunshots to the head. Thus died Natale Caravello, a 47-year-old convict from Palermo murdered in the Brancaccio district. The man had a series of precedents for thefts and robberies, in particular a 500 thousand euro heist scored in 2009 in Palermo.

Precedents that have nothing to do with the crime, accrued for sentimental reasons. It was a 20-year-old boy, Alessandro Sammarco, nephew of the boss Giuseppe Bronte, who carried out the murder.

The boy confessed and revealed the motive: he was dating Caravello's daughter, who had opposed the engagement.

The young man presented himself to the Carinieri barracks in Piazza Verdi accompanied by his lawyer and was taken to the Mobile where he was questioned. There he recounted yet another discussion that ended in tragedy.

Sammarco entered the barracks punching himself in the head: “I am consumed. I am consumed ”, he said.

“He was upset - said the lawyer - he told me what had happened and we went together to the barracks. It was a situation that had been going on for about a year. The girl's father opposed the relationship with his daughter. Yesterday my client, while he was riding his motorbike around the neighborhood, was blocked by Caravello. It came up in front of him. Sammarco drew his gun and fired. He claimed he didn't aim. He was desperate and has said several times that with yesterday's gesture he ruined his life ”.
