He allegedly promised to split a €2 million scratch-off win with two friends. But then he backed out, wanting to collect the winnings for himself.

For this reason, a 43-year-old Italian-Brazilian resident in the Mantua area ended up on trial for "embezzlement". Now, after three years of hearings, the verdict of the Verona Court: acquitted because the fact does not exist.

The Corriere del Veneto reports the story. The games took place in the province of Verona, where the man, a tiler, usually works.

After the mind-blowing win (among other things, another win of 800 thousand euros had occurred a few days ago, to the point that the Finance Police had also opened an investigation) the man's friends decided to take legal action, claiming that they had purchased the tickets in partnership with him and that in any case there was an agreement for the division of the money. This theory was also supported by the testimony of a bank clerk, to whom the 43-year-old had reportedly told him of a "joint" win.

In the end, however, the judge, after hearing evidence and testimonies, ruled in favor of the 43-year-old, who now - after a legal battle that began in 2021 - will be able to keep the money all for himself.
