He approached a young mother who was walking with her two-year-old daughter and grabbed the child by the arm, trying to take her away . The woman, starting to scream, attracted the attention of passers-by who scared away the man , a 35-year-old, who was then arrested by the police in flagrante delicto.
It happened on the afternoon of January 2nd, in the San Pasquale neighborhood of Bari. The arrested man is from Bari, already known to the police for crimes against the person and property . He was captured by the local carabinieri who were in the area at the time.
After a short chase they caught up with the 35-year-old who was riding away on a bicycle .
The stories of the young mother and the witnesses have therefore allowed to reconstruct the event and acquire - the investigators underline - a solid evidentiary framework to provide to the public prosecutor. The arrest was subsequently validated by the judge for preliminary investigations.
The little girl did not need medical attention.
