Exactly six months after the video in which, aboard a hearse, he decreed the death of the M5s, Beppe Grillo is back in the fray: he will soon start legal action to reclaim the symbol and name of the Movement. The news leaked from sources close to the founder of the Movement and immediately exploded in the five-star universe, effectively reopening the dispute, which has never really died down, between the Genoese comedian and the current leader of the party, Giuseppe Conte.

From Campo Marzio, for now, they say they are "absolutely calm. If and when there is this new legal initiative, we will read the papers and our lawyers will respond in kind", they cut short. The prerogatives advanced on the basis of the symbol are considered "unfounded". The role of guarantor within the Movement was eliminated at the end of 2024 with the constituent assembly of the M5s. "Seeing this symbol represented by these people gives me a sense of unease - was Grillo's comment at the outcome of the constituent assembly - Make another symbol. The Movement is dead, but the humus that is inside is not". Among the choices contested by the "High" - as Grillo proclaimed himself - there was also the abolition of the limit of two mandates. A rule that little by little, the M5s is definitively sending to the attic: the hardest blow was given by the constituent assembly in November, with the green light from the members, and the process will soon come to a conclusion, with the definition of the criteria.

The main rule, very detailed, will provide that mandates can never be more than three. "Today it is no longer the M5s. I hope that Grillo finally takes back the symbol and gives Conte the chance to make his own party", commented Danilo Toninelli. Words that, two weeks later, sound like a prediction of the imminent moves of the Genoese comedian, who has always been a thorn in Conte's side.

Recently, any reference to the ongoing tug-of-war has disappeared from his social profile (the wall is full of information on artificial intelligence, environmental and energy issues) but he has evidently not given up on "his" creation. In short, after the conflict over the Constituent Assembly, the second round is about to begin with the battle that will move to the courts. "Whoever dares to hinder the M5S will find a solid legal barrier, will pay the lawyers, including ours, the frivolous litigation, and even the damages", warned Conte at the end of 2024.

And the fighting spirit must have remained the same, given that his supporters point out: «Since the new course began, no legal defeats have been recorded and on the pending ones, those who advanced them have lost and have been forced to pay legal costs and damages», indicative of the «solidity» of the legal reasons of Conte and the M5S. Of a different opinion is the lawyer Lorenzo Borré who has followed the dissident five-star movement in various cases: «We all expected Grillo to move in December, when there was the vote that eliminated the figure of the guarantor. Now the reasons why he does not believe he should continue to grant the symbol to Conte's party will have revived. The Court of Appeal of Genoa in 2021, in a dispute involving all three associations called the 5 Star Movement (the first formed by Grillo and Casaleggio in 2009; the second formed in 2012 also by Grillo and others to be able to present the lists; and the third formed in 2017 formed by Luigi Di Maio and Davide Casaleggio), affirmed that the owner of the name and symbol is Beppe Grillo.

Given these assumptions, "Grillo should win."
