Goodbye to Rosa Scafa, the first Italian policewoman

She was the first woman to wear the police uniform. Rosa Scafa, former chief inspector, has died at 98.

She was born in Vibo Valentia and joined the police after a course in 1951. For 33 years in service - from 1952 to 1985 - she was part of the civil police of Trieste, of the women's police and, from 1981, of the state police.

She dealt with crimes committed or suffered by women and minors; subsequently he worked at the special assistance service for employees and their families. In 2010, during the celebration for the 158th anniversary of the police, she was awarded on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the entry of women into the police.
