Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli is firing the MIC's executives, eliminating his staff. The Corriere della Sera website reports.

Revocation decrees have been issued for Emanuele Merlino , head of the technical secretariat of the MIC and trusted man of the Undersecretary Giovanbattista Fazzolari, and for Elena Proietti , head of the minister's personal secretariat.

The former allegedly failed to supervise the documentary on Giulio Regeni, which the ministry denied funding for. The latter, according to Corriere.it, allegedly failed to show up at the airport and therefore did not participate in the minister's mission to New York last month.

The documentary at the center of the case, " Giulio Regeni - Tutto il male del mondo," directed by Simone Manetti , has been at the center of a political debate, with strong criticism from the opposition for the failure to allocate public funds, despite the producer's requests. The minister, during the David Awards ceremony at the Quirinale Palace, called the lack of support unacceptable.
