The 24-year-old Israeli tourist stabbed at Rome Termini station remains hospitalized in serious condition. The prognosis is reserved, but his conditions are stable and his life would not be in danger.

It was a stranger who attacked her, who approached her while she was buying a ticket at one of the automatic machines.

The images from the cameras show the man, dressed in black, with a hat on his head and a blue bag in his hand, who reaches out to stab her twice and then flees, placing the weapon in the bag.

The police are trying to trace him and understand what was the motive for the attack.

It may have been an attempted robbery, but the gesture of a deranged person is not excluded.

However, the hypothesis of an act linked to terrorism is excluded. The Rome prosecutor's office has instead opened a file for attempted murder.

For her part, the young woman, from the hospital bed, confirmed to the investigators that she did not know the man who attacked her.
