Far from the city, under the branches of a large oak tree in the countryside of Casorate Primo (Pavia), the mystery of the disappearance of Giacomo Sartori, the 29-year-old computer scientist whose traces had been lost on 18 September in Milan, ended.

A story with dramatic outlines: this morning the carabinieri found the body hanged from a tree next to a farmhouse where yesterday his gray Volkswagen Polo had already been identified, the car in which he was traveling in the direction of Pavia at 7.15am on 18 September as confirmed by a camera from the municipality of Motta Visconti, in the Milanese area, installed next to the cemetery.

Sartori's body was discovered by the deputy coordinator of the Civil Protection of Bereguardo (Pavia) who this morning continued the inspection around the farmhouse that was interrupted yesterday with the arrival of night.

The presence of the car, closed regularly and without signs of damage, had led investigators to assume that the 29-year-old had walked away a short distance. The research had been concentrated in that place for a few days but no one had noticed that the corpse was hung with an electric cable from a branch at the top, in a point where the tree has a dense texture that makes it more difficult to see. Even the residents hadn't noticed anything.

The position in which the body was found does not leave the investigators many doubts about the hypothesis of suicide, although the results of the coroner are awaited and the technical investigations that could clarify Sartori's last hours are continued.

Relatives and friends said that last Friday, the day of his disappearance, they saw him and felt very upset because he had suffered the theft of his backpack while he was in a bar in Milan. In that bag was his work computer, a precious treasure for Sartori, who appeared very tried by the affair. However, it seems that he has not lost heart and has tried to follow the track left by the GPS of his device.

The camera of the Motta Visconti cemetery shows that the morning after the theft the 29-year-old was around, perhaps looking for the thief, but that's a guess. Certainly he wasn't phoning at that moment, the printouts leave no doubt. However, there is data traffic related to the use of the Internet, it will be necessary to understand if it refers to the navigator, a chat or a call on WhatsApp.

Sartori, a native of Mel, a hamlet in the province of Belluno, by all accounts had not shown any recent signs of frailty and for Saturday morning he had set some business appointments which he never showed up.

There are therefore still many aspects relating to death that need to be investigated.
