Found the third hideout of Messina Denaro, the boss lived there until June. Now the apartment is for sale

Discovered the third hideout where boss Matteo Messina Denaro lived, arrested on Monday after thirty years on the run.

It is an apartment, where Messina Denaro allegedly lived until June, which is also located in the Trapani area, in Campobello di Mazara, the town where the other two refuges of the mafia boss have been identified . The third hideout, searched, is reportedly empty and now up for sale. Investigators are investigating who the owner is.

Yesterday in the second hideout, a bunker hidden in the sliding bottom of a wardrobe, jewels, necklaces, bracelets and even precious stones of substantial dimensions were found, as well as empty boxes and perhaps emptied at the last minute. The restaurant is located less than a kilometer from the house chosen by the godfather of Castelvetrano for his last stay as a fugitive and purchased by Andrea Bonafede, the surveyor who "lent" him his identity, in June 2022.

The room of secrets was created in the home of an old acquaintance of the magistrates of the Dda: Errico Risalvato, already investigated and acquitted for mafia association, originally from Castelvetrano, brother of Giovanni Risalvato who was instead sentenced to 14 years for the mafia. After serving his sentence he was released from prison and is now free. On the other hand , Giovanni Luppino, the farmer who acted as the boss's driver and accompanied him to the Maddalena clinic where both were arrested on Monday, has a clean record.

In the meantime, the list of supporters under investigation is getting longer. In addition to Luppino, who was arrested in the act, Andrea Bonafede, the surveyor from Campobello who lent his identity to the boss - Messina Denaro had cloned his identity card - and two doctors are under investigation. One is from Trapani, Filippo Zerilli, head of oncology. It was he who subjected Messina Denaro to the DNA test necessary to prescribe chemotherapy. The other is Alfonso Tumbarello, an old doctor from Castelvetrano who was treating him. Both answer for aiding and abetting and procuring non-compliance with the sentence. The position of Tumbarello is more serious, as he knew the real Bonafede well, being his attending physician.

In the meantime, this morning the fugitive would have renounced to be present by videoconference , from the prison of L'Aquila, with the bunker hall of Caltanissetta where the trial is taking place in which he is accused as instigator of the massacres of Capaci and via D'Amelio.

The godfather of Castelvetrano underwent his first chemotherapy session inside the prison , in a special room not far from the cell.

The hearing was postponed to March 9 "to allow the defender to be present".
