More inconvenience for train passengers, and again due to an accident in the Florentine area.

After the derailment of the wagon of a freight train in the Firenze Castello station two weeks ago, today a train without passengers that was going to the depot is diverted from the tracks in Florence , in the Romito area, near the central station of Santa Maria Novella. No injuries are reported but the repercussions on railway traffic are heavy with delays of up to 90 minutes.

THE RECONSTRUCTION - According to what was later explained by Fs, everything happened at 12:30 in Santa Maria Novella: "The front wheels of an empty regional train that returned to the depot at the end of the commercial service, while traveling at low speed and without passengers on board, they left the railway station causing the convoy to stop ».

The presence of the train, still explains Fs, «at the moment inhibits the use of some tracks on the entrance and exit route from the station, causing delays and changes to circulation in the Florentine junction. Rfi technicians are working to restore regular traffic ».

GIANI: «THE STATE INVESTS» – «Although individually the heads of the various companies are competent, the State's lack of adequate resources for maintenance and unfortunately the lack of attention to the freight traffic system are all issues on which the State must address great attention and above all it must invest both in the maintenance of the lines and in the adaptation of services», commented the president of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani .

"When the Regions were created - added Giani - they were given power in terms of resources to also animate the transport system, but the entities remained all national. If I had a railway body in the Region, I would know what to do ».
