The massive fire that started a few days ago on Mount Faeta, in the Lucca area, continues to rage. Yesterday afternoon, it reached the Pisan side, threatening Asciano, a hamlet in the municipality of San Giuliano Terme.

In the middle of the night, due to increased wind gusts that fanned the flames even further, a new evacuation order was issued for all residents in the area up to provincial road 30, known as the "Lungomonte." The measure affects approximately 3,500 people.

Ground teams of firefighters and civil protection volunteers battled the fire throughout the night.

The municipal operations center is open to provide assistance to the population. The municipality had already equipped a gym to accommodate those previously evacuated to the upper part of the valley.

Currently, 48 firefighters are operating on the Asciano side with 19 vehicles, including tankers, jeeps, and logistics vehicles. Supporting the evacuation operations are also several teams from the army, carabinieri, financial police, and state police. Air operations also resumed at 7:00 AM, with a helicopter arriving from Florence and three Canadairs departing from Rome and Genoa.
