Massive bank robbery this morning in Rome.
Two armed men, wearing white construction overalls, surprised employees at a branch on Via Cristoforo Colombo by having a security door opened and stealing four safety deposit boxes containing cash intended for ATMs. The haul is estimated to be approximately one hundred thousand euros.
After the alarm was raised, the police arrived on site and began an investigation.
According to initial reconstructions, the two bandits entered the bank through a hole created over the weekend in a boiler room in the building adjacent to the bank. Several people reported feeling unwell due to the fright.
