Emma Bonino has been discharged from the San Filippo Neri Hospital in Rome, where she had been admitted since last Monday . The announcement was made in a post on the social media channels of +Europa, the party of which the Radical leader is a founder.

"We are happy to announce that Emma has finally returned home and that her condition is stable," reads the + Europa post. It adds: "Our country still deeply needs her vision, her strength, and her determination. Today, as Europe faces an unprecedented attack, we want to reiterate her words from a 2019 interview: words that ring more relevant than ever: 'The Europe we don't like is the entire Europe that is missing and that we must create.'"

The former minister and senator—after feeling ill—had arrived at Santo Spirito Hospital with a critical condition due to respiratory failure on November 30th . She spent the first night in the Santo Spirito Hospital's intensive care unit, then was transferred the following day to the San Filippo Neri Stroke Unit to "ensure an appropriate setting" for her treatment. On December 5th, she was able to leave the sub-intensive unit to complete her recovery in another ward.

"She is stable and has always been alert," said someone who was able to meet her in recent days, explaining that they saw her "in good condition."

Unfortunately, the 77-year-old Radical leader, no stranger to health problems, had to be hospitalized again last October for a similar condition. In 2023, she announced she had completed oncology treatment for small cell lung cancer (a highly aggressive form of lung cancer) that she had been diagnosed with in 2015.
