The promoter of Vatican justice Alessandro Diddi will launch new investigations into the disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi in Rome in June 1983.

This is learned from sources of the Holy See.

The new investigations would have been arranged in relation to a series of requests presented in the past by Pietro Orlandi, Emanuela's brother.

"New investigations? We are unaware of it, we learn it from the press but we have certainly been waiting for a year to be heard », the first comment by Laura Sgrò, lawyer of the Orlandis.

For his part, Pietro Orlandi hopes that «a solution can be reached. The truth is there - he says - it is somewhere and many people know it".

Again from what filters, the Vatican judiciary will first analyze the acts and documents relating to the old investigations.

The proceeding of the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office on the disappearance of Orlandi - and that of Mirella Gregori , who disappeared into thin air a month before Emanuela, also in Rome - was filed in October 2015 at the request of the then chief prosecutor Giuseppe Pignatone, and now president of the Vatican Tribunal, and by the substitutes Ilaria Calò and Simona Maisto.
