The alleged murderer of 73-year-old Anastasia Spiniello, killed on 18 December 2018 in Mondragone (Caserta) in her home in via Guicciardini, was arrested by the Carabinieri after almost five years.

This is a 31-year-old who was the woman's carer at the time of the events. The man, according to what emerged from the investigations of the Carabinieri coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, would have put the woman in trouble from a financial point of view, making her take out various loans and transfers on pension accruals from 2015 to 2018 for an amount of over 27 thousand euros, to the point that the old woman was no longer able to honor her debts.

When the woman discovered the situation she had ended up in, the carer killed her to prevent her movements from being discovered. The 73-year-old was hit on the head with a blunt instrument and suffocated with a handkerchief in her throat. The police identified the 31-year-old by cross-referencing testimonies, telephone interceptions and accounting and financial documentation. Once the evidence had been collected, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere requested and obtained from the investigating judge the issuance of a precautionary custody order in prison against the 31-year-old.
