An 89-year-old elderly man was found dead this morning in his home in the Canavera area of the Ruino hamlet of the Colli Verdi municipality (Pavia), in Oltrepò Pavese. His body, in a pool of blood, was at the foot of the bed. The police immediately intervened on the spot and started the investigation with the hypothesis of murder.

The man's carer, a 40-year-old woman of Italian nationality, was accompanied to the barracks in Voghera (Pavia), to be interviewed by the investigators.

Some of the man's relatives discovered the elderly man's body. Once they entered the house, they reached his bedroom, and found the body with a lot of blood around it.

When they arrived on site, the rescuers could not help but confirm that the man had died.

The autopsy will establish the exact causes of death and also the presumed time of death.

From what has been possible to ascertain so far, the elderly man lived alone and was assisted by the Italian caregiver whose position is being examined by the military.
