The coronavirus is slowing down in Italy, with the average Rt calculated on symptomatic cases in the country that continues to drop, in the period 25 August - 7 September 2021, and according to the monitoring draft by the Higher Institute of Health (ISS).

The new data is equal to 0.85 (range 0.83 - 0.95), therefore below the epidemic threshold and down compared to the previous week when the value was equal to 0.92.

The incidence of cases per 100 thousand inhabitants also decreases, a “key” indicator which passes, in the national value, from 64 last week to 54 in the latter.

Sardinia is confirmed to be at low risk and will remain in the white zone also next week, with a drop in the incidence of infections, to 57.8, almost halved compared to the previous week.

ADMISSIONS - As regards the pressure on hospitals, the percentage of places occupied in intensive care drops to 10% on the island and the figure for hospitalizations in medical areas remains stable at 12%.

In the country, the employment rate in intensive care of Covid patients decreased slightly, to 6.1%, with the number of people hospitalized decreasing from 563 (as of 7/09/2021) to 554 (as of 14 / 09/2021). The same value in the data sheet on decision-making indicators that accompanies the weekly monitoring, now being examined by the control room, updated to 14 September, sees an even lower value: 5.8.

The employment rate in medical areas is also down, which at national level stands at 7.2%. The number of people hospitalized in these areas is decreasing from 4,307 (as of 7/09/2021) to 4,165 (as of 14/09/2021).

IN THE REGIONS - Four Regions / Autonomous Provinces are classified at moderate risk: they are Abruzzo, Molise, the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and the Autonomous Province of Trento. The remaining 17 Regions / Autonomous Provinces, including Sardinia, are classified as low risk.
