The incidence of Covid-19 cases and the Rt transmissibility index in Italy are still decreasing: the weekly incidence at national level is in fact equal to 260 per 100,000 inhabitants (data from 12 to 18 August) against 365 per 100,000 inhabitants of the week. last (from 5 to 11 August).

In the period 27 July - 9 August 2022, the mean Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was instead equal to 0.77 (range 0.74-0.80), a decrease compared to the previous week, when it was equal to 0.81 . This is highlighted by the weekly monitoring of the Higher Institute of Health and the Ministry of Health on the progress of the Covid-19 epidemic .

Since last June the transmissibility index Rt has not dropped below 0.77. The RT was in fact equal to 0.75 last June 10, and then recovered.

The transmissibility index returned below the epidemic threshold of the unit on 5 August, registering a value equal to 0.90.
