Deaths caused by Covid, equal to 230 per week, are currently lower than those caused by seasonal flu, and admissions to intensive care are stable, with 130 per week: on the basis of these data «the current alarmism about the recovery is unjustified of SarsCoV2 infections", says virologist Francesco Broccolo, of the University of Salento.

As regards the molecular swabs, it is noted that 50% are positive: «A fact that was not highlighted even during the pandemic, probably because before the swabs were random and now they are selected, in the sense that only symptomatic people are swabbed », observes the virologist. From the molecular swabs it also emerges that "the variants of the SarsCov2 virus are circulating a lot", but "despite this, the weekly accesses to intensive care and the deaths are stable, almost all in people over 80 years of age, a lower number than that related to the influence".

The problem, continues the virologist, is that "the growing number of patients admitted to hospitals with a positive swab puts the organization of the emergency rooms and departments into crisis", as the necessary "isolation reduces the places available for other patients".

Furthermore, «insufficient staff in almost all medical areas and the reduction of beds made by all governments in recent years, despite the increase in patients and life expectancy, is putting the public health system in difficulty. All this - he concludes - coincides with the simultaneous reduction in healthcare funding. A perfect storm, should another emergency arrive."
