The leader of the PD group is absent during the evening session of the city council to go and breastfeed her 8-month-old son. And her centre-right colleagues begin to attack her, accusing her of "little attachment to politics", going so far, it is reported, as almost insulting her.

It happened in Biella and the incident triggered political controversy.

According to what was documented by a local TV, the brawl began when the Democratic councilor - and mayoral candidate in the next local elections - Marta Bruschi got up from her seat for "family reasons", or to breastfeed her little son.

At that point, a League councilor, Alessio Ercoli, thunders during his speech: «I see that there is an important absence among the minority benches. With two resolutions to go, the new PD group leader and mayoral candidate has left. He's not just any councillor, it's 9.30 in the evening, this shows an excellent interest - he ironically - in politics. I imagine how I could be mayor one day."

At that point the tone becomes heated, with Andrea Foglio Bonda, councilor of the Buongiorno Biella list, replying to the Northern League member: "Are you seriously saying that a woman who goes to look at her little girl cannot be mayor?". Then the session heats up and the controversy mounts, even reaching social media, with the deputies of the Democratic Party who published a clip of the Northern League councilor's speech on Instagram, commenting: «Solidarity with Marta Bruschi, the candidate for mayor of the Pd in Biella who was absent from the city council chamber for a few minutes to go and breastfeed her daughter and who, for this reason, was insulted by a League councilor."

«This is who they are: - add the dems - they talk a lot about family and violently attack a woman because she takes care of her daughter. And they go so far as to tell her that, for this reason, "she can't be mayor". A repulsive scene. Come on Marta."
