He died in the Milanese prison of Opera Cosimo Di Lauro , regent of the Camorra clan of Secondigliano of the same name. Di Lauro had been in prison since 2005, detained under the 41 bis regime.

Son of Paolo Di Lauro and brother of Marco, also detained at 41 bis but in Sardinia . Cosimo was 49 years old, for the Dda of Naples it was he who gave life to the first Scampia feud that caused a hundred deaths. An autopsy was ordered on his body.

His state of mental health would have been compromised for some time , the lawyers could no longer deal with him because he refused to attend meetings and refused notifications.

The lawyers, on several occasions, have asked the judicial authority to order an expert opinion aimed at assessing his ability to understand and will but the requests have always been rejected.

Di Lauro was found guilty of numerous murders and according to the chronicles of the time he started the first bloody feud of Scampia after the double murder of two killers that brought out the betrayal of Gennaro Marino. It was then that Di Lauro ordered the complete purge of the splinters and the Marino family.

It was he who inspired the character of Genny Savastano in Gomorrah , although the story of the TV series does not fully reflect that of Di Lauro, who was immediately sidelined with the arrest in 2005.
