The 37-year-old Bangladeshi man, who was escorted to the border in recent days and repatriated to his country of origin, had been under observation for some time by investigators from the Como Digos. The man, an illegal immigrant in Italy, is believed by investigators to be associated with Islamic religious terrorist groups active in Bangladesh.

The measure is the result of extensive intelligence work conducted by the police, in collaboration with the Central Directorate of Prevention Police, Immigration and Border Police, the DIGOS (Special Operations Unit), and the Immigration Office of the Como Police Headquarters. The investigations allowed for the constant monitoring of the man's movements and activities in the Como area.

After ignoring an initial order to leave Italy, the 37-year-old applied for asylum last February, establishing residence in Como and even obtaining a work contract. Last week, however, the Rome Court rejected his request for international protection, declaring him undocumented and highlighting his lack of social and occupational integration, as well as his ties to Islamic extremist circles.

In light of the court's decision, the Italian Special Operations Division (DIGOS) located the 37-year-old in a city apartment and handed him over to the Immigration Office for expulsion proceedings. The Prefect of Como, Corrado Conforto Galli, then signed the expulsion order, which was executed by Police Commissioner Marco Calì, with his forced escort to the border and immediate repatriation to Bangladesh.
