There has been a new change in the legal defense of the so-called family in the woods , the Anglo-Australian couple whose parental rights were suspended by the Juvenile Court of L'Aquila on November 20, ordering the transfer of their minor children to a protected facility in the province of Chieti.
Lawyers Marco Femminella and Danila Solinas have resigned from their positions as defense attorneys. "There was no shared vision," Solinas stated, confirming her decision to leave the position she assumed in November.
The couple's new legal representative is Simone Pillon, a former Lega senator and one of the organizers and supporters of Family Day . Pillon, an expert in family law, confirmed that he has received the mandate: "First, we will read all the documents," he stated.
The expert witness, psychiatrist Tonino Cantelmi, who is a consultant on the couple's legal precedents, will continue his work on the couple's psychological assessment to challenge the report filed at the end of April by psychiatrist Simona Ceccoli, a court-appointed technical consultant for the Juvenile Court of L'Aquila. The assessment is aimed at determining the couple's parental fitness.
Femminella and Solinas replaced the couple's attorney Giovanni Angelucci on November 26th. Angelucci cited the couple's opposition to the agreed-upon defense line for his termination. "I believe it is my duty and necessity to resign from my defense," he wrote, "since I cannot, in good conscience and in accordance with professional ethics, present a defense that is incomplete and inconsistent with the defense line I had outlined and agreed upon with my clients some time ago."
