Diana Pifferi , the girl of almost a year and a half who died of starvation after being left alone at home by her mother for 6 days, was made to take tranquilizers, to be precise benzodiazepines .
It appears from the medical-legal investigations arranged by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office as part of the autopsy advice that will be formally filed in the next few days and will end up on the table of the prosecutors in charge of the investigation, Francesco De Tommasi and Rosaria Stagnaro.
The mother of the little girl, Alessia Pifferi, has been in prison since 21 July on charges of aggravated voluntary homicide .
A bottle of En , an anxiolytic drug based on benzodiazepines, was found next to the baby's cradle. The 37-year-old mother denied giving the girl tranquilizers, saying she only gave her drops of paracetamol.
Yet the suspicions were there, also because the neighbors told investigators that they had never heard Diana cry in those six days.
The final results of the autopsy will clarify the exact day of death and when the quantity of tranquilizers taken is known, it will be possible to understand if they affected the death . The circumstance could however aggravate the position of the woman, the prosecutor had already challenged the premeditation, excluded for the moment by the investigating judge.
Alessia Pifferi left little Diana alone to spend time with her new partner, who is not the child's father: "I was counting on the possibility of having a future with him, and that's what I was trying to understand in those days, to I thought it was crucial to stay with him and not interrupt those days, even when I was afraid that the child could be very ill or die ".
