"I have Covid, but luckily the vaccine has protected me".

This is the revelation made to Vatican News by Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, archbishop emeritus of Genoa and president of the European bishops.

For the prelate, 78, a confession that was also an opportunity to invite everyone to undergo the anti-Sars-Cov2 vaccination: "I simply say my experience, that I am doing Covid, but in an extremely light form, without particular ailments and I think this lightness is certainly due to the fact that I finished my vaccinations as early as last May ”, said Bagnasco. Adding: “Therefore, it was known that even with vaccination one can be infected and it can also be infected but in extremely light forms. This is my experience".

In recent days, Pope Francis has also tried to raise awareness on the importance of vaccines (which he called "an act of love"), noting that even among the cardinals there are "deniers" , one of whom ended up in hospital after having contract the virus.

“Humanity has a history of friendship with vaccines - said the Pope, during his recent visit to Slovakia. "As children - continued Bergoglio - even measles, polio, all children were vaccinated and no one said anything". What is happening now, he concluded with reference to the No Vax positions - "perhaps it came because of virulence and uncertainty not only of the pandemic, but also for the diversity of vaccines. And also for the fame of some vaccines that are little more than distilled water ".
