They were returning from an evening in a club when the runaway car crashed into the highway guardrail. Thus, at 4 am along the A21 between Pontevico and Manerbio, in the Brescia area, Irene Zani died, just 17 years old and a high school student.

The girl was in the passenger seat of the vehicle driven by a 21-year-old friend, who then tested positive for the breathalyzer with an alcohol value twice the amount allowed.

The young man was therefore arrested on suspicion of road murder : he is now in hospital, hospitalized on a confidential prognosis, after the terrible impact that left no way out for his friend, who died instantly.

Both are resident in the same village, Leno in the Lower Brescia , today in shock. "The community is speechless. Too much pain," said Mayor Cristina Tedaldi.

The girl's friends, ever since the news began to circulate, found themselves outside the house where the 17-year-old lived with her mother and brother. The relatives - even the separated father lives in Leno - have closed in pain.

The driver did it all by himself , but it is still unclear whether it was sleepiness that caused him to lose control of the car. The results of the breathalyzer arrived a few hours after being transported to the hospital and the traffic police, coordinated by the Brescia Public Prosecutor's Office, ordered the 21-year-old's house arrest.
