A tragedy struck a family from Assemini who was traveling by camper on the A14 Bologna-Taranto.

The accident took place yesterday evening shortly after 8 pm at the height of the Emilian capital: a 63-year-old woman, Palmira Pizzanti, died, a 9-year-old child is hospitalized in very serious conditions and in danger of life at the Maggiore hospital in Bologna.

Driving the camper was the grandfather, who according to the first findings was forced to stop the vehicle because he had a flat tire. The man pulled into the hard shoulder and got out for repairs, when suddenly a truck came at full speed and overwhelmed the vehicle . These are the first information on the dynamics of the tragedy, which is still being examined by the investigators.

The 9-year-old child , the grandmother (the 63-year-old who died), the father and the older sister (12 years) were stuck between the sheets, both injured but not seriously. His grandfather was unharmed, who, having got out of the camper, noticed the arrival of the truck and avoided the impact. The driver of the truck, a 48-year-old Italian, was injured but not in serious condition.

The child was accompanied to the hospital in a code of maximum severity, he is in danger of life. Even today he is in intensive care with a reserved prognosis .

In addition to the 118 health workers, the firefighters who extracted the injured from the sheets of the camper, the traffic police patrols and the staff of Autostrade per l'Italia intervened.
