Blinded by the sun, she overwhelms and kills a woman walking on the sidewalk

Tragedy in Bergamo, where a woman blinded by the sun lost control of the car she was driving by mowing down an elderly couple walking on the sidewalk. A 79-year-old, Luigina Rota, died in the collision, while her 81-year-old husband reported only minor consequences.

According to the reconstruction of the incident made by the local police, the driver - a 36-year-old - suddenly skidded and changed lane because - she herself reported - her view was disturbed by the sun.

Then the impact with the sidewalk, just as the two elderly people were passing.

A passing doctor witnessed the accident and attempted to rescue the 79-year-old, but in vain. Unfortunately, the aid of the health personnel, who arrived on the spot with an auto-doctor and an ambulance, was also useless.
