"We must protect the rights of all. And rights cannot belong to one political party or another, but touch the living flesh of the entire country and affect situations that must always be treated with extreme respect. Within the places where cultures are formed, any gender discrimination must be condemned."

It is a passage from the response of the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, to the question of the deputy of the League, Rossano Sasso, who contested a course at the University of Sassari "entitled 'Gender and Queer Theories', with which one obtains university training credits valid for obtaining a degree in political science", claims the exponent of the Carroccio, "studying on a text that in the opinion of the questioners justifies, indeed almost advocates, paedophilia and without there being any affinity with the remaining part of the teachings provided for by the course of study".

Bernini said that "the Ministry of Universities has started the investigations and is monitoring the situations with the rectors, if criminal profiles emerge we will inform the judicial authority". Then he added that "I also believe it is a duty to guarantee freedom of research and the circulation of opinions, assigning resources for training courses that are based exclusively on teachings of proven scientific relevance".

Bernini did not stop there and underlined: «The task of my ministry is on the one hand to guarantee the quality of the educational offer, on the other to guarantee the rights of all».
