The president of Sampdoria, Massimo Ferrero, was arrested today by the Guardia di Finanza.

The film producer and former actor ended up in handcuffs as part of an investigation by the Public Prosecutor of Paola (Cosenza) for corporate crimes and bankruptcy. There are also other suspects, including Ferrero's daughter, Vanessa, and a nephew, Giorgio. According to preliminary information, the club is not involved in the investigation.

The patron of the Ligurian company has already been transferred to the Milanese prison of San Vittore, while house arrest has been arranged for five other people involved in the investigation.

In the sights of the prosecutors the collapse of four companies in the hotel, tourism and cinema sector with

based in the province of Cosenza. The companies, from what has been learned, were declared bankrupt a few years ago.

A harsh comment on the arrest of Pina Tenga, Ferrero's lawyer: "They are treating him worse than Totò

Riina. We made a request to the Public Prosecutor of Paola - added Tenga - to ask that Ferraro be transferred to Rome to attend the search and the opening of a

safe".

Following the investigation, Ferrero resigned as president of Sampdoria: "Massimo Ferrero, precisely in order to better protect the interests of the other activities in which he operates - reads a note from the club -, and in particular to isolate even any pretext speculation, intends to formalize the immediate resignation from the corporate offices he has held up to now ".
