The caregiver of the 89-year-old woman - Carmen Gorzanelli - who was mauled by two dogs last Tuesday evening in Sassuolo, in the province of Modena, will have to answer for lack of vigilance.

In fact, the woman ended up under investigation as a "due act" by the Prosecutor to complete all the investigations on what happened.

From the reconstruction carried out by the investigators, the caregiver was convinced that the old woman was sleeping. The 89-year-old, on the other hand, left the house in a confused state and entered the courtyard of a nearby villa, where the two Amstaff guard dogs attacked her, leaving her no way out.

The discovery of the incident occurred when the victim's son phoned the caregiver asking her to verify the actual presence in the house of the 89-year-old.

In recent days, however, the same son of the elderly victim has repeatedly expressed words of appreciation towards the family assistant for the work done in looking after the mother.
