In Sanremo, the alarm went off after the discovery of a suspected package bomb not far from the Ariston theater, where the Italian song festival takes place.

The area has been cordoned off. The bomb squad and the police attended the scene.

According to the investigators there would have been no risk of explosion but it would rather be a demonstrative action.

The object - a bag containing bullets, perhaps gunpowder and a primer - was on the ground in a side street of via Fiume, about 500 meters from the Ariston. A police officer from a nearby police station would have found him.
