Air travel is likely to experience disruption today, with a 24-hour strike called by CUB Trasporti. However, the time slots required by law, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., will be maintained, in addition to the flights listed by ENAC.

Flight and ground staff of Volotea airline and Wizz Air pilots and flight attendants also crossed their arms throughout the day.

The CUB strike is part of the mobilizations "to support the Palestinian people", as well as "defending wages" and demanding "better working conditions".

A demonstration is also planned for 10 a.m. at Malpensa Airport, at Gate 1 of Arrivals in Terminal 1, with the intention of then marching to Cargo City where "a permanent assembly will be held with a complete blockade of the cargo gates."

Regarding the Volotea strike, called by Uiltrasporti, the union explains that the mobilization "comes after years of failure to recognize workers' rights and the established union representation." Contractual reasons also underlie the protest at Wizz Air, such as "the revision of employee compensation, applied without prior consultation or agreement with the trade unions," explains Filt Cgil, but also "the failure to resolve serious critical issues regarding the protection of the rights and interests of the company's workers," the union emphasizes.

Also today in Cagliari, security personnel from Sogaersecurity will be walking out of action at Elmas airport. "The strike is the latest in a dispute that has dragged on for over a year," UGL Transport said. "The workers, with a sense of responsibility and aware of the impact a strike in the height of the summer season would have, have postponed this decision and attempted every form of discussion and dialogue with company management to find minimally acceptable solutions.
Unfortunately, the good will and willingness of the workers to overcome the dispute is
a wall of silence has been created, against which the workers' appeals have constantly bounced,
exhausted and tested by working conditions at the limits of sustainability".
