A desperate gesture , accompanied by a letter that justifies it: " I can't take care of her ". So a mother left her swaddled daughter at the Cradle for Life in Bergamo , outside the city's Red Cross headquarters.

Little Noem i (that's what she was called) is fine now . Immediate assistance, with the transfer to the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital. On the scale, the pointer read 2.9 kilos, and as a precaution, the baby was hospitalized in the neonatal pathology department

Together with the pink bundle, the new mother left a message , addressed to whoever – shortly – would take charge of her daughter's life: « She was born this morning, at home, just me and her as in these 9 months. I can't keep her with me, but I wish her all the best and happiness in the world. A kiss forever from mom. I entrust you with an important piece of my life that I will certainly never forget».

The case was reported to the Juvenile Court of Brescia. It is the first time that the structure has been used in the Lombard city , designed to allow mothers in difficulty to leave their newborns, safe and in total respect of privacy. The cradle is heated in winter and cooled in summer and thanks to a sensor the Red Cross is alerted.
