A 26-year-old man, Giovanni Luppi, died yesterday in San Lazzaro di Savena, in the Bologna area , after falling six stories due to the collapse of a plexiglass skylight . He had hidden on the roof to avoid a fight between two friends, both of whom were infatuated with him.
The alarm was raised when residents of Via Pio La Torre heard a thud and saw the 26-year-old's body. The Carabinieri responded to the scene.
Apparently, the young man had climbed onto the condominium terrace to hide and avoid an argument between his girlfriend and a friend . This is the background revealed by investigations by the Carabinieri of the San Lazzaro Station and the Mobile Radio Operations Unit.
Giovanni was spending the afternoon with his girlfriend, who lives on the sixth floor of the building. He was apparently seeing her secretly because she's best friends with another girl who was infatuated with him. When he learned that she was unexpectedly arriving, and that if she found them together at home, she would discover their relationship, he decided to hide to avoid an argument between the girls. However, unable to escape in time, he allegedly hid on the condominium terrace, but as he walked through the skylights, a collapse occurred, causing him to fall six stories.
"A tragedy that leaves us speechless, a profound pain for our entire community that no words seem enough," Mayor Marilena Pillati commented. "On behalf of the municipal administration and the entire city, I want to express our deepest condolences and our closeness to his family, his friends, and all those who loved him. In this moment of immense suffering, the community gathers around them with affection and compassion."
