Two brothers, one of whom is a minor, have been arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of having killed their father Francesco Marando on January 11, the 54-year-old former businessman from San Luca found dead in a building on the outskirts of Bovalino, near state road 106, in the province of Reggio Calabria.
The two young men are also accused of concealing a corpse and illegal possession of weapons. The murder is said to have occurred at the height of a heated argument arising from long-standing family disagreements. The shooter is said to have been the older brother, who confessed during a lengthy interrogation.
"My brother only helped me hide the body," he said, justifying the crime with the mistreatment that he, his brother and his mother suffered. "He had become violent."
