The second hearing of the trial of Patrick Zaki, which takes place in the Mansura court, lasted only two minutes, postponed to 7 December.

The lawyer of the young student Hoda Nasrallah has asked for a postponement in order to study the documents, which after a year and a half of Zaki's preventive detention he has not yet received. The lawyer also asked for an authenticated copy of the file since so far he has only had access to it in consultation with judicial offices, without therefore being able to study it properly. The single judge withdrew to decide on the request.

Patrick Zaki was taken to the prison of the accused in handcuffs: "As if he were a dangerous criminal," notes Amnesty International Italia.

A few minutes after Patrick entered the defendants' cage, before his hearing even began, the session was interrupted and Patrick spoke to two lawyers and drank some water. Father and sister sat a couple of meters from the cage. Also present was a director of the NGO "Eipr" for which Zaki worked.

The young man did not speak during the hearing, which was also attended by an Italian, a Spanish and a Canadian diplomat as part of an EU trial monitoring with Italian traction that also involves non-European countries.

Patrick is accused of spreading false news, faces up to five years in prison.

But in these days the news has circulated in the Italian press that, according to what the young man's lawyers report, the initial charges, those of subversive and terrorist propaganda, linked to alleged posts published on Facebook, remain the responsibility of the researcher. and never seen by his lawyers. “There is enormous concern because the most serious accusations, those of subversive and terrorist propaganda, could still be standing”, is the comment of Amnesty International Italia.
