The wife of a US music industry tycoon was found dead in her Beverly Hills home, according to the first police findings she was shot and killed by an intruder.

The victim is Jacqueline Avant, 81 years old. Her husband Clarence Avant, 90, is known as "the godfather of black music".

Celebrated by the likes of Jay-Z, P. Diddy, Quincy Jones, Snoop Dogg, Jamie Foxx and even former President Barack Obama.

The couple's daughter, Nicole Avant, is a former US diplomat and is married to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.

The dynamics of what happened are still unclear. What is known, according to Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook, is that the woman was shot dead.
