The statements come after those of the South Korean government, which denounced that 3,000 Pyongyang soldiers are already in Russia, with a forecast of 10,000 by December, but so far neither Washington nor NATO had committed themselves.

The incident raises concerns about the escalation of tensions and the risk of a wider conflict in Ukraine actively involving a third country.
